The SQP4 Proposals
South Quay Plaza 4 is located immediately to the west of the existing retail and office complex, and sits to the south of Discovery Dock East. It is currently vacant, with hoardings surrounding it. SQP4 will complement the existing permission and deliver an enlarged and enhanced public realm strategy that will activate Marsh Wall and bring life to this part of the Isle of Dogs.
The proposals for SQP4 are being designed by Foster and Partners, who designed the consented scheme for SQP1-3+. This continuity will help to ensure that an integrated vision for the wider site is delivered. This consistent approach will be most noticeable in the public realm, where the benefits of joining the consented plans and the proposed plans together will deliver a greater sense of place and have a positive impact on the surrounding residents and local businesses.
The site aims to deliver up to a further 396 much needed new homes for the Isle of Dogs, in addition to the 888 homes already consented in the SQP1-3+ scheme.
A number of public consultation events have been held over the past year that have shaped and influenced the final design. The application was submitted in October 2015 and is due to be heard at the Tower Hamlets planning committee in spring 2016.
